Google commemorates Niels Bohr's 127th birthday

Niels Henrik David Bohr or better known as Niels Bohr, was a physicist inventor of the theory of atomic structure that was born on October 7, 1885 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and died on 18 November 1962. Exactly today, Google commemorates the Niels Bohr's 127th birthday.

Niels Bohr was born in educated family where his father was a professor at the University of Copenhagen. In 1903, Niels Bohr noted a degree at the university. In 1911 he had earned a doctorate of physics and then continued to study under the tutelage of British physicist inventor of the electron, JJ Thomson, and also studied with Ernest Rutherford a few months later.

In 1922, Niels Bohr received a physics nobel of the atomic structure and radiation research. Bohr reveals a theory as opposed to the old physics theory that atoms actually composed of the nucleus and electrons that continued to beset the nucleus in an orbit with a very specific size.

Atomic model proposed by Bohr also gives enlightenment about spectral lines and also the hydrogen atoms that were previously difficult to solve by other scientists. Bohr's hard work even could reap the praise from Albert Einstein.

In 1943, Bohr left Denmark since Nazi German troops had occupied the area since 1940. But after the war, he returned to Denmark and had headed various institutes of physics. In 1962, Niels Bohr died of a heart attack. He was buried in one of the districts of Copenhagen, Denmark.
