Mayan prince's body is 1300 years old was found along with luxurious offerings in an ancient Mayan tomb. The tomb is from the 8th century and was found approximately 1.5 meters below the Uxul royal palace in Campeche, Mexico.
Quoting page the Daily Mail, the researchers estimate that the prince was about 20 and 25 years old when she died. Fossil body are found lying on the back, with arms folded across in the tomb of 4.9 feet or 1.5 meters below the floor in a building in the royal city complex.
During the excavation process in the largest palace complex in Uxul (Structure K2), six relief panels found last year showed the four kings of the dynasty, Calakmul.
Scientists believe Uxul inhabited and ruled from time to time by the leaders of the ruling dynasty, the Kaan dynasty at Calakmul. But in the early nineteenth century, the region is almost completely empty.
This burial chamber could mark the end of the influence of Calakmul, with the inscriptions found in various containers. These findings point to the fact when the prince was buried.
Brick walls are covered with a protective stone dome, typical of Maya culture, lies parallel to the wall in the remains of the prince. Condition when found, the prince was buried on his back with arms folded over his stomach.
Around the bodies of princes, there are lavish funeral sacrifice, such as the four ceramic plates, and five ceramic cups in a very well maintained. Some of them are decorated with paintings of the spectacular, including unique dishes lying 'in the Mayan skull of the corpse.
A message on the cup in the hieroglyphs read, "This is a cup of younger men / prince." While the second container also calls the same message.
Researchers from the University of Bonn said, "from the grave and the absence of certain objects such as jewelry jade burial showing the location, it shows the body is a young prince who has no direct relationship with the king".
Date in one cup is 711 BC and the death of a young prince and his tomb area can be marked during the first decade of the 8th century. In addition to the preserved ceramics, the findings of this tomb to be one of the most significant discoveries of this type of tomb in the entire Maya lowlands.
Dr Kai Delvendahl said this effort is part of the excavation campaign of 2012, the grave had been dug about 1.5 meters below the south room K2 structure 'is marked after the end of Calakmul and the influence of possible locations to place a prince was buried.
"Inscription on a variety of containers found in a burial tomb indicate this fact, 'said Delvendahl.
"The palace complex was completed around 650 BC, when the dynasty came to power in neighboring of Calakmul in the process of taking over large areas of lowland Maya," said Dr. Nikolai Grube.
Located near the border of Guatemala are currently Campeche, Mexico, the city Uxul 'is one of the royal Mayan trading center during the Classical period 250-900 BC.
The city was discovered in 1934 by archaeologists Karl Ruppert and John Denison, who named the site after the Maya as the end of this period, due to its remote location in the Yucatan jungle.
