Knife-legged Spider Found in California

Some American scientists have discovered a new type of spider in several caves in the area of ​​California and Oregon, USA. Spiders that can reach three inches in length is named Trogloraptor because it has claws like knives in his leg used to trap prey.

According to the researchers, the spider has a unique form of evolution that is not merely represent a new genus or species, but also a new family of spiders.

Arachnology curator at the California Academy of Sciences, Charles Griswold, told on Today program presenter, Sarah Montague, that the discovery was a "historic event". In ZooKeys journal, the researchers revealed that the spider claws an indication that the animal is a ferocious predator.
