5 Important Things About Expired Food

Packaged food usually included expiration dates on food labels. Before preparing food packaging in the refrigerator, you should double-check the label and condition.

Warning given by Health Canada some time ago, informing consumers about the expiration date on the food stored in the refrigerator or pantry. Here are some things to know about the level of freshness of food products.

1.How quality of the product after the packaging is opened?
Expiration dates on food packaging aims to provide information about product freshness and shelf life. But after opening the packaging does not guarantee the quality of the taste, texture and nutritional value of food is maintained.

2. Is it important that the expiration date?
Information expiry date of food is very important, because if used before date specified will get a better nutritional value.

3. What if the smell of the food is bad?
Expiration is usually shown with a bad odor to food. If you want to reuse food that was stored in the pantry and you are hesitant to use it, should be discarded.

4. Frozen food can extend the expiration date?
Canadian Partnership for Consumer Food Safety, said the process of freezing food can stop the growth of bacteria that can extend the shelf life of food. The duration of the shelf life of frozen foods depends on the type of food.

5. Is the food always stamped expiration date?
Not all foods labeled warning. As the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not require food companies to include the expiration date, even though U.S. law states that food sold must be fit and suitable for consumption.
