Meaning of Urine Color

Generally the color of urine is determined by the amount of diuresis (increased urine formation). The greater diuresis, urine color are getting younger. Normal urine color ranges from light yellow to dark yellow. color is caused by several kinds of substances, especially UROCHROM and UROBILIN.

If the urine sample rather than in shades of yellow, can be called abnormal, so it needs further examination.

Nevertheless abnormal color is not necessarily due to severe illness. It could be caused by abnormal metabolism results from a particular food or medicine.
The following colors are associated with the color of urine:

1. YELLOW
Normal dye in bulk: Urobilin, Urochrom
Dyes abnormal: bilirubin
The influence of drugs: Santonin, riboflavin, or the influence of candy
Indications of disease: there is no (normal)

2. GREEN

3. RED

4. CHOCOLATE

Dyes abnormal: bilirubin, hematin, porfobilin
Indications of disease: hepatitis

5. OLD BROWN / BLACK
Normal dye in bulk: indikan
Abnormal dye: old blood, alkapton, melamine
The influence of drugs: derivatives, phenol, argyrol
Indications of disease: nefrotika syndrome (kidney disease)

6. SIMILAR MILK
Normal dye in bulk: phosphate, uric
Abnormal dye: pus, sap prostate, chylus, fatty substances, bacteria, proteins are frozen
