"Batman Shooting" was preparing 6000 bullets
The gunman who shot the audience at the premiere of the latest Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado, United States, are known to buy more than 6,000 rounds of ammunition over the internet in the last two months, the police chief said on Friday (07/20/2012).

All the ammunition was purchased legally, as well as the four guns used by the perpetrators named James Holmes, at a local gun shop in the last 60 days, said Dan Oates, Aurora police chief.

At the same time, Oates revealed the latest information from the victim, which is about 70 people. Of the 12 deaths, 10 of whom died at the scene.

"Almost everyone was shot," he said. He said that only a few who were hospitalized did not have gunshot wounds, but was injured in the chaos.

"In the last 60 days, (Holmes) purchased four guns at local metro gun shops and through the Internet, he purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition," said Oates, who several times seemed to be controlled emotion.

Ammunition consisting of over 3,000 bullets for assault rifles, 3,000 bullets for Glock pistols and 300 bullets for the rifle.

"Also through the Internet, he purchased multiple magazines for the .223 caliber assault rifle, including one 100-round drum magazine, which was recovered from the scene," Oates said.

"I'm told by experts that with that drum magazine, he could have gotten off 50 to 60 rounds... within one minute. And as far as we know, it was a pretty rapid pace of fire in that theater," Oates said.

"My understanding is that all the weapons that he possessed he possessed legally, and all the clips that he possessed, he possessed legally, and all the ammunition he possessed, he possessed legally," He added.

Recent shooting indiscriminately picked up the debate on control of firearms ownership in the United States. A lobby that supported the National Riffle Association (NRA) has accused President Barack Obama sided with the United Nations treaty to limit the constitutional rights of Americans to own firearms as much as they want.
