Starving, A Child Suckling From the Dog


This tragic story happened in Jharkhand, Eastern India.

You know the legend of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome? In the legend, they were raised by a wolves after abandoned on the Tiber river.

Apparently there is a similar story with the legend of the Roman period at this time. Starvation, a boy aged 6 years, Chotu Kumar suckling of dogs that are roaming the villages near his home.

Tragically Chotu had the habit of suckling this dog since two years ago.

"Our family is very poor, sometimes I feel very hungry. Dog did not bite me, I liked it and she also likes me. He treated me like one of her children. I love to play with the dogs, they are my friends," said Kumar.

Chotu lived with his mother, Shanichari Devi (37) and the grandmother Amiya Devi (60) and two brothers, Bola (14) and Mahesh (3) in a house made ​​of clay in Jharkhand, Eastern India.

Since his father died four years ago, their families live below the poverty line.

Chotu did not even go to school and have no friends so that the dogs were a daily playmate.

Mother and grandmother used to go to the forest to gather wood and food in there. They usually eat vegetables and bread as a daily menu.

According to UNICEF, 50% of children under 3 years of age are malnourished in rural Jharkhand.

"I've seen him suckling of dogs. I was very surprised, and ran to pull him from the dog. But since then whenever he feels hungry he always sneak (to suckling again). I let him because I know how hungry he is," said Devi.

Dog that usually feeding Chotu often stray outside their house and barks when she wants to meet Chotu.
